Why can't I just save a GIF from Twitter directly?
X doesn't actually store animated GIFs as .gif files. Internally, every "GIF" on the platform is a muted, looping MP4 video. Right-click-save gives you nothing usable, this tool fetches the real file and, if you want, converts it to a proper .gif for you.
Is this Twitter GIF downloader free?

Does this work with x.com links too?
Yes, both twitter.com and x.com tweet links work, including www. and mobile. subdomains.
Can I download regular Twitter videos, not just GIFs?
Yes. Any public tweet with a video works, you'll get an MP4 download. GIF conversion is only offered for tweets X marks as an animated GIF.
What if I paste a t.co short link?
Use the actual tweet link (twitter.com/x.com), not a shortened t.co redirect, t.co links aren't supported yet.
